Their lives were drastically changed in 1915, as the Armenian people were overtaken by the Turkish people and faced harsh Ottoman rule.
Despite the growing threats and hostility, the Kirishian family continued to create intricate sample rugs, and in an effort for a better life, sent a piece of one to the Turkish ambassador.
