Weaving is an ancient craft that creates items that are both practical and beautiful.
It covers a large scope of items and techniques from a simple towel, to a sturdy rug, to a formal dress, to a stunning tapestry piece as lifelike as any painting.
If you've ever been interested in weaving there is a type that will work for your budget and space.
Tapestry is the simplest form of weaving, requiring only a frame, yarn, and a few simple tools to create a woven piece.
The items can be practical, like a drink coaster, or a piece of art like a wall hanging, or even both at the same time.
We carry an extensive selection of yarn sizes, yarn colors, yarn textures and yarn materials.
We have yarns in skeins and on cones.
All the yarn we carry is suitable for weaving.
Rigid heddle weaving, card weaving, tablet weaving, tapestry weaving, rug weaving, Navajo weaving, backstrap weaving, pin loom weaving, triangle loom weaving, frame loom weaving - whatever your weaving project we have the yarn for you.
All of the yarn in our shop is suitable for weaving.
Many of the yarn lines can also be knitted or crocheted.
Felting is an age-old craft.
In fact, felt is the oldest known textile.
Possibly developed in the Middle or Far East, felting is a process that has evolved with local traditions wherever it was used.
Felt caps from the Early Bronze Age are on display at the National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen.
Evidence of several felt shops, or factories, have been identified at Pompeii.
Felt fragments dating to 6,500BC have been found in Turkey.
As in ancient times, felting is still used today to produce tents (yurts), rugs, shoes, hats, luggage and clothing.
