We wish you Happiness, Health and Hooking in the coming year. Green Valley Rug Hooking's retail space, formerly located at Rococo Mercato, has now moved just around the corner to Cast Away & Folk, 100 4th St (entrance on Wilson St)! Beginning and on-going rug hooking classes, as well as some rug hooking supplies, are available now. Cast Away & Folk is a wonderful shop encompassing many of the fiber arts including yarn for knitting, weaving and sewing supplies, felting, embroidery and now rug hooking!

Their class offerings are extensive. Visit their website, www.castawayandfolk.com to sign up on the mailing list and go visit the store and say hello to Isla, Leslee & Justine! Please visit the "Classes" section from the homepage to see the calendar for this year. Please contact me with any questions you might have or if you would like to place an order.

I am so pleased to finally be on the web and offering top-notch rug hooking supplies and services. Don't hesitate to contact me with questions by phone or by email.
Services
I have been hooking since 1998, and come from a long line of hookers.
My great-grandmother, Lucy Selen, was hooking when her daughter, my Grandmother Jane Selen, now Olson, was young.
The story I have been told was that Lucy made Jane hook her background in around her motifs!
I am not sure I believe the story, but I do know that I am a fourth generation rug hooker.
I started on a visit to Jane's when my daughter, Sadie Jane, was a baby.
My first project took me a year - a small chair seat pad.
My next project, another chair pad, took another year, and so on.
I offer regular classes from 6-8 pm on most Tuesdays of the year between September and May.
Summers are busy so if you need supplies or help, I am happy to set up an appointment.
I also teach beginner classes occasionally at Cast Away & Folk in Santa Rosa, CA.
Please check their website for classes and get on their mailing list to be notified for upcoming classes.
They offer all types of classes in the fiber arts.
I have not been to Saskatchewan but have heard Prairie Harvest is a fantastic rug school.
We supply the basics needed for rug hooking and more.
From frame and cutter to wool and pattern, you can get what you need here at Green Valley Rug Hooking.
I will also special dye wool for your project and/or provide a full kit for your pattern which would include all the wool in your choice of colors, needed to complete the project.
If you want me to match a color, send about 1/16th of a yard so that I have something to work with.
It is virtually impossible to match a color exactly but I will try.
I hope you enjoy my original designs.
With my busy life with the children, I do not design as much as I would like.
I know that will change this year as I have five new patterns to publish in the Rugger's Roundtable in 2011!
Most of the patterns could be special ordered in custom sizes and several of the patterns have alternate sizes already but not pictured.
I hand draw every pattern to ensure that they are always on straight.
We supply the basics needed for the art of rug hooking.
Because we are a small company, we only offer one style of frame and one cutter at this time.
All of our supplies have been tried and tested and are all the very best at what they do to help our art form.
Each item has a full description but if you have further questions about any item, please contact us.
This is a picture of my old Schulle frame.
This was a hand-me-down from Jane about 6 years ago.
I am not sure how long she used it before I got it but I have been brutal to it over the past 6 years and it keeps performing!
