Life has changed quite a bit in the 21st Century. In the last part of the 20th Century, we've seen innovations like CDs, DVDs, cell phones, iPhones, the Internet and satellite television. Today, all these technologies have become a part of our lives. Yet, some things never change. Oriental rugs, for instance. Fashions change. Trends come and go. But somehow, quality, Oriental rugs remain a timeless classic.

Professional decorators will tell you that the rug is, quite literally, the starting point for interior design, and the very foundation of any well-appointed room. Now you'd think that with all the emphasis the world places on modern technology, rug-making would have changed right along with everything else. It hasn't. Oh, sure, you can buy rugs made by machine.

But even an untrained eye can instantly tell the difference between a mass-produced, Polyester rug, and a fine, handmade rug. Even today, there's simply no substitute for craftsmanship and quality. We directly import the finest new and antique hand woven rugs from all the major rug-weaving areas of the world.
Services
In 1997, Ark La Tex Oriental Rug Gallery was established in Shreveport LA.
We are a family owned and operated business, we choose Shreveport mainly because the city had a great need for an Oriental Rug Dealer.
Our goal is to provide outstanding selection of Hand Woven Oriental Rugs and service to our customers in a true full service rug center.
Our main Goal is to make our clients feel like they are at home when shopping with us.
We are very knowledgeable about the products we sell and give our customers the right details about how the rugs are woven, what country they originated from, and the different types of workmanship available.
To maintain the beauty and longevity of your rug, we provide expert cleaning in our facility for all types of hand made rugs including: wool, silks, durries, braided, flat-weave, killim, and needlepoint rugs.
Pick up and delivery service is available.
For best results, handmade rugs should be professionally cleaned every two to four years depending on the traffic.
With our experience, no repair is beyond us.
We offer full professional repairs from fixing fringes, re-binding, repairing torn areas, re-dying of white knots, and reweaving missing sections or moth damaged areas.
If you've never bought an Oriental rug before, you may be a little confused and overwhelmed by the dizzying number of factors that determine the price - and value - of a rug.
At first glance, you might assume, for instance, that rugs are sold like many other things - where the overall size of the piece determines the price, or perhaps that there's a "Good/Better/Best" set of features that you can use to determine the kind of rug you can afford.
But rugs are.different.
As with anything that is hand-crafted, much more goes into the making of a rug than meets the eye.
Vacuum the rug in the direction of the nap, which you can determine by running your hand over the surface.
Never catch the fringes in the vacuum or the rug can get ruined.
Never put a house plant on the rug, no matter how careful you are, moisture can penetrate on the rug, creating permanent mildew damage.
Mop up spills by blotting, not rubbing.
Dilute the spillage with plenty of cold water and continue blotting until the rug appears to be clean.
Try not to soak unaffected areas of the rug.
Dry thoroughly first using absorbent towels on top and underneath, then turning the rug over to dry the foundation.
