Our family's grandfather traveled to Ellis Island from Turkey, at the age of 15, in the early 1900s to escape the Turkish persecution of the Armenians.
He first moved to Philadelphia, PA, and gained experience working for a Persian tailor-and-rug cleaning company, before relocating to Baltimore, MD.
The original store was on the corner of 20th Street and North Charles Street in Baltimore, which was a thriving and very posh neighborhood at the time.
The store prospered and stayed at this location through the 1950s.
