Services
Unlike synthetic materials which will take years upon years to biodegrade, wool will biodegrade in a much shorter amount of time when placed in the soil and give back to the earth the nutrients that allowed it to grow in the first place.
The natural characteristics of wool will give owners of wool carpet a soft, comfortable area to walk, stand, sit and play no matter how the carpet is constructed.
Cut pile and loop construction provide a soft stable area for years of comfort and enjoyment.
Wool is cool to the touch but maintains warmth during the colder months and prevents heat from coming in through the floor in the warmer months.
Cavan Carpets recommends vacuuming wool carpets at least once per week with a suction only vacuum, or a vacuum with a manually adjustable rotating brush set at the highest setting away from the carpet top.
Because Design Manufacturing's products are very thick and dense, most soil will be held high up on the pile so there is no need to put unnecessary stress on the fibers by using a rotating brush on a low setting close to the carpet top.
Do not use high suction or cyclonic suction vacuums on handmade carpet.
Allow carpet sufficient time (approximately 24 hours) to adjust to room conditions.
Room temperature should be at least 65°F to allow carpet to move freely and adjust to installation.
Use of a firm, dense synthetic fiber or synthetic felt pad is essential for proper installation and to prolong the life of your wall-to-wall carpet.
The seams of the padding should run perpendicular to the seams of the carpet.
For residential applications, a 1 wide carpet tack stripping is suggested around all walls and perimeters.
