The Carpet Center
We are a second generation, family-owned, full service floor covering store. You can find us centrally located in Downtown Huron, SD. We offer a large selection, helpful sales staff, fast service, and experienced installation. The Carpet Center only offers first quality products from name brand manufacturers. We are a premiere dealer of Mohawk (we are a Mohawk Color Center), Dal-Tile, Schluter Systems, Congoleum, J&J Commercial, and Tandus Commercial.

The business, then called Fair City Furniture, was started in 1963 by Lloyd Venables and Earl Meyers in Huron, SD. Lloyd Venables bought out Earl Meyers in 1969 and began featuring quality carpet and vinyl floor covering along with home furnishings. After a while a new stand alone full line floor covering store was started. By 1973 the furniture store was sold and full attention was given to the new store, now called The Carpet Center.

Lloyd's son, Gary, joined at that time. Lloyd retired in 1980 and a new partner, Bob Cameron joined Gary as owners of The Carpet Center.

What makes our installation service beyond any other flooring dealer?
Carpet has so many things going for it.
It's soft, safe, warm and quiet.
It's stain-resistant and gives excellent value for the price-and it saves energy.
Carpet is also proven to trap allergens and dander (which can easily be removed with the right vacuum used regularly).
So for beautiful comfort underfoot, consider carpet.
It's not hard to take care of carpet-there are just a few easy steps to be aware of.
Regularly following these steps will ensure that your carpet continues to look as lovely in years to come as it does when you have it installed.
Rich and inviting, hardwood makes a distinctive statement.
Because of a great range of natural variations-from boards with extreme character, graining, and color variation to those that are evenly colored and consistent-lustrous hardwood can create a uniquely beautiful floor.
Your kind of floor.
Warm, stylish, and original.
To protect your lustrous hardwood floor and preserve its gleaming beauty, there are a few things you need to do.
But each step of recommended maintenance-from using the right cleaning techniques to placing protective pads under furniture-is simple, and we'll guide you.
A room's "fifth wall, " the floor, can showcase dramatic area rugs that are so breathtaking in color and design, they're like works of art.
And rugs can change the feel of a space in minutes-so you can do a room makeover on your lunch hour.
Rugs look great layered over carpet or adding warmth and color to hardwood, laminate, Vinyl, and tile.
Taking care of your area rug is straightforward and not at all difficult.
Just vacuum regularly, blot spills, and clean occasionally with the hot-water extraction method-and that spectacular area rug beauty will be maintained over the years.
Both chic and classic, floors of tile or stone make a statement.
They're elegant.
On-trend.
Some even have recycled content.
And tile is not just for the kitchen or bath-our styles captivate in any room of the house.
You can even put tile in the bedroom, evoking the dreamy feeling of a Roman villa.
In any space, you'll love the timeless look of tile.
Tile-whether it's ceramic, porcelain, or stone-is one of the longest-lasting flooring materials in existence.
But it still needs a bit of care.
Basic, consistent maintenance of your tile or stone floor will ensure that it remains beautiful and trouble-free for many years.
